Job Summary

The Composite Assembler is responsible for the assembly and manufacturing of composite material parts for various applications, including aerospace, automotive, and maritime industries. The role involves working with materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resins to produce lightweight and durable components.

Key Responsibilities

Material Preparation: Prepare and cut fiber fabrics (carbon, glass, etc.) and matrices according to technical specifications and plans.
Resin Application: Apply resins and other necessary chemicals for composite part assembly.
Lamination and Assembly: Perform lamination and assembly operations for composite parts, using techniques such as molding, pre-impregnation, and hand lay-up.
Curing and Hardening: Oversee and control curing processes for composite parts, including the use of autoclaves and ovens.
Inspection and Quality Control: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet industry standards and company specifications.
Repair and Finishing: Perform repairs and finishing on composite parts, including sanding, polishing, and applying finishing layers.
Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance of production tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: Diploma in composite materials, mechanics, or a related field. Professional training in composite manufacturing is an asset.
Experience: Previous experience in composite part assembly is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings.
Precision and Dexterity: Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise, meticulous tasks.
Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
Flexibility: Willingness to work variable schedules, including night shifts and overtime, as required.

Working Conditions

Safety: Strict adherence to safety standards and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, respirators, and safety goggles.
Environment: Primarily working in a workshop or manufacturing facility, with occasional travel to production sites or other locations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift medium loads, stand for extended periods, and work in uncomfortable positions.
